Western Australian Aboriginal cultures and languages are among the oldest living cultures on earth but are in very real danger of extinction.

60 000 or more years of accumulated knowledge and wisdom is at risk and many language communities are racing to protect their cultural inheritance for future generations.

This work is being done in a range of ways.  Language is central to culture and language centres and programs are some of the most prominent organisations working to strengthen culture.  Western Australian Aboriginal arts centres are important hubs for culture and there is a range of others undertaking cultural activities as part of their larger work, as well as national peak bodies, government agencies and assorted funders who support the sector.
