Culture and language preservation efforts

Western Australian Aboriginal cultures and languages are among the oldest continuous cultures on Earth, with over 60,000 years of knowledge and traditions. However, many are now at serious risk of disappearing.

Efforts to preserve and revitalise this rich heritage are underway across the state. Language - a core part of cultural identity - is being supported through dedicated language centres, programs, and Aboriginal arts centres, which serve as vital cultural hubs. These efforts are bolstered by national organisations, government agencies, and funding bodies working together to ensure the survival of these irreplaceable cultural treasures for future generations.
