Bundiyarra Aboriginal Community Aboriginal Corporation

Bundiyarra, located in Geraldton, is an umbrella group and resource agency for the Yamaji people of the Midwest, Murchison and Gascoyne region of Western Australia. It is home to Irra Wangga Language Program, which is a professional Aboriginal-directed program, working both with and for the community. ABC Open have produced a video, Preserving the Badimaya Language, showcasing part of the Irra Wangga Language Program's work

Goldfields Aboriginal Languages Centre

The Goldfields Aboriginal Languages Project was developed to preserve the Goldfields Aboriginal languages. The Project commenced on July 2011. The initial focus was to work on two of the Goldfields' languages, Ngalia and Tjupan. However, this was expanded to include the Kuwarra language, the Kaalamaya language of the Kubrun people in Kalgoorlie, Ngaju, Cundeelee Wangka and Ngalia. The project is housed at the Goldfields Aboriginal Languages Centre in Kalgoorlie.

Kimberley Language Resource Centre

Situated in Halls Creek, the KLRC is the peak representative body for Aboringinal languages in the Kimberley and the first language centre established in Australia.

Mabu Yawuru Ngan-ga

Mabu Yawuru Ngan-ga is the language resource centre at Nyamba Buru Yawuru, which represents and manages assets of the Yawuru native title holders from Broome. The centre has been set up to ensure Yawuru language continues to be used in and around Broome on a daily basis now and into the future. 

Mirima Dawang Woorlab-gerring Language and Culture Centre

Based in Kununurra, the work of MDWg was initiated by the traditional Miriwoong people in the late 1960s in order to document, record, stabilise and develop the Miriwoong language and culture.

Noongar Boodjar Language Cultural Aboriginal Corporation

Noongar Boodjar Language Cultural Aboriginal Corporation (NBLCAC) was established in 2013 to use, preserve and enjoy the Noongar language of the south-west of Western Australia. NBLCAC undertakes the linguistic researches and documentation of the three Noongar dialects spoken across 14 clans. The organisation also undertakes the preservation of Noongar cultural information and stories. Many books have been produced across several years and are available for purchase from NBLCAC website.

Wangka Maya Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre

Wangka Maya Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre aims to be recognised as a leading Aboriginal language and resource centre in Australia. By working with the old people of the Pilbara, the centre uses its expertise, knowledge and sensitivity to record and foster Aboriginal languages, culture and history, thus ensuring cultural continuity into the future by keeping young people strong in their culture.

Other organisations

Western Australia and Northern Aboriginal Language Alliance

WANALA aims to engage with language centres, language projects and language groups to share knowledge, acquire skills and to collaborate on ways of working together in remote and difficult contexts. A biennial conference is hosted by members of the alliance.
